Sam was surrendered to the shelter by his owners because he was too friendly towards people and isn’t a good guard dog. What?!

Sam is great and gentle with people and children. When it comes to strangers, he’s a little shy, but warms up fairly fast. Once he warms up, he is a sweet little boy who loves to be petted and follow his hooman around. Sam is a smart boy who likes to play with dogs but he will observe and take his time when meeting new doggie friends. Though he likes other dogs, he is still better in a family without another dog because he tends to get jealous and want all the love to himself. This might be from being abandoned before and afraid to be abandoned again. Sam loves food and he doesn’t guard his food against people, but he guards a bit towards other dogs; however, for some dogs who he trusts, he is able to share a bowl with them. Sam is housetrained and fully grown on the smaller side of medium-sized. Sam is not interested in cats and calm when a cat walks by him. Sam is agile which is perfect as a hiking partner and he can also be calm and quiet at home.
