Gabie is ready to find his furever home in Vancouver! He is alert and sensitive to his surroundings, and takes time to warm up to new people and new environment. As such, Gabie would benefit from a patient family who will continue to train and socialize him. Despite his shy nature, Gabie gets along well with his dog pals, and is great with kids! He needs some time to observe dogs when meeting for the first time, but once he gets to know them he’s playful and friendly! He is not interested in cats, however.
As a Formosan Mountain mix, Gabie’s chocolate coat is short and easy to maintain. He has fully grown to his adult size. Like his peers, he is intelligent, loyal and a sucker for yummy treats and belly rubs! Gabie is current with his shots, but he has a hydrocyst on the elbow of his right front leg. The hydrocyst is dormant most of the time, but acts up if Gabie accidentally bumps into the spot or rubs that spot against a hard surface. When this happens, he would need to go to the vet to get the fluid sucked out and recover on a soft cushion. The vet said unfortunately even surgery would not cure this, and it seems this occurs every 3-4 months at most. Nonetheless, Gabie hopes to find a loving family who will take him in and accept him completely and wholeheartedly! Let us know if you’re interested in learning more about him!
